Funcitonal genomics

Functional genomics

The goal of functional genomics is often to characterize the functional components of the genome.  To date, this means research have focused on genes, but at the genome level.  This has been done for years on a single gene basis, but functional genomics uses high through-put methodologies to assess nearly all genes in the genome at once using microarrays or sequence-based technologies.
